After Hours Service
The White Man Medical Medical Centre is pleased to announce that we have appointed Dial A Doctor as our deputised after hours medical service. This means that Dial A Doctor will be available with immediate effect to visit our patients in their homes if they need to see a Doctor when our clinic is closed. Dial A Doctor is an after hours service and is only permitted by Medicare to operate at certain times.
These are:
Monday – Friday 6.00pm – 8.00am
Saturday -12.00 noon – 8.00am
Sunday – 8.00am – 8.00 am
Public Holidays – 8.00am – 8.00 am
Dial A Doctor will usually be able to send a doctor to see you or a member of your family within 3 hours of calling, However cannot visit outside of the hours above. The home visit is a fully bulk-billed service, meaning that it will not cost you anything provided that you have a valid Medicare or DVA card. Visiting Doctors can issue prescriptions if necessary and will carry a small quantity of common medicines which can be dispensed to get you through the night or until you can get to the pharmacy. Dial A Doctor is not equipped to deal with medical emergencies and in an emergency you should always call 000 or if able, make your way to the nearest Accident and Emergency Department.
You can call the Dial A Doctor Call Centre to book a home visit 2 hours before the service opens (i.e. from 4.00 pm Monday -Friday) by calling 1300 030 030.
Once you have used the Dial A doctor Service it will send us a record of the visit, including details of any medicines prescribed to ensure that you receive continuity of care from your usual GP.
